XML Conferences by IDEAlliance
By Ken North
Following publication of the W3C XML 1.0 specification in 1998, there was a
surge of developer interest in XML. The major software companies embraced XML
and the XML Activity at the W3C became the umbrella for working groups
developing a variety of specifications. New conferences emerged with a focus on
XML developer education.
Beginning in 1999, the Graphic Communications Association (GCA) produced a
series of XML conferences in North America. By 2001, GCA had become the
IDEAlliance and was also producing an annual XML conference in Europe. The XML
2005 conference in Atlanta was the most recent edition of the longest-running XML
conference.
